INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS
ITRISA is an institutional member of the UK-headquartered International Association of Trade Training Organisations (IATTO), which prescribes and monitors members’ adherence to international standards for the delivery and management of international trade training and education programmes.
IATTO provides a vital forum for the exchange of ideas and information, and recent years have seen the launch of a number of important initiatives – the most notable of which has been the development of an international accreditation, certification and professional designation system. Achieving ‘IATTO Accredited Provider’ status is a reflection of an organisation’s high tuition standards and ability to assess participants’ international trade-related competencies against agreed global standards. ITRISA has been an IATTO-accredited provider for many years and is currently aligning its various distance learning programmes to the IATTO certification requirements.
Certification of the ITRISA ‘Diploma in International Trade Management (Exports or Imports)’ will enable graduates with this qualification and the requisite work experience to apply for the IATTO global professional designation, ‘World Trade Professional (WTP)’. Having the words WTP placed after one’s name on a business card or cv provides instant recognition of status across all countries in which IATTO members reside, e.g. the USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and many European and Asian countries.

In addition to its membership and accreditation status with IATTO, ITRISA is represented on the IATTO Board, currently hosts the IATTO Secretariat and is the regional agent in southern Africa for IATTO.
An agreement with the UK Institute of Export and International Trade was signed in 2015 paving the way for mutual recognition of the qualifications amongst the key international trade development institutes of the world.
ITRISA is represented on the Board of International Advisors of the Foundation of the Malaysian Institute of Export and International Trade. The Foundation was approved by the Prime Minister’s Department of Malaysia for the purpose of grooming and mentoring Malaysians to excel in the field of international trade, to undertake research on the marketability of Malaysian products and services abroad, to provide updated trade information and to establish Malaysian Distribution Centres in selected cities in the world.
